Course Description

3-Day Design Thinking and Lean Facilitation Training

This 3-day high energy design thinking and lean facilitation training course gives participants the confidence to plan for and facilitate design thinking projects and workshop sessions.

You see the importance of Design Thinking but how do you take a product to market? How to facilitate a Design Thinking project and deliver concepts that get implemented? How to embed a new product or service across organisational functions? How to manage a new concept critical path? How to ensure workshop outcomes are carried forward into the implementation pipeline?

How and when to move from design thinking concepts to a “lean-start-up” or “agile” implementation.

Approach:

This ‘Learning by Doing’ experience in a 3-day design thinking facilitator training setting is followed by a personal online coaching sessions for you to learn how to facilitate Design Thinking workshop sessions for mixed audiences. The activities for the 3-day training are grouped into a balanced mix of theory and practice. You may choose to follow this design thinking training up with our 3-month certification learning journey to help embed the facilitation practice.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Facilitation is key in running successful design thinking facilitator training sessions, which usually bring together people from diverse backgrounds to work on specific challenges. Creating space and environment where people feel confident and be creative is the key responsibility for the facilitator.

We strongly believe in ‘Learning by Doing’, so the Design Thinking Facilitation Training Course will be a high energy hands-on event. You’ll be challenged to work in small teams working on all the different aspects of facilitating workshops. The focus will be on improving your personal facilitation skills in the design and management of Design Thinking workshops.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

The objective of the 3-day classroom training is to understand the facilitation skills’ required to successfully plan for and manage Design Thinking sessions through a combination of facilitation experiences and coaching. The activities for the 3-day classroom training are a balanced mix of theory and practice.

TOPICS DURING THE DESIGN THINKING FACILITATION TRAINING:

Core capabilities we will cover are Socratic questioning, focusing conversations and following participatory methods. Opening diverse and trans-disciplinary teams to new opportunities. The Double  Diamond approach to Design Thinking; Management of participative processes across divergent and convergent thinking and doing practices. Facilitating for uncertainty and ambiguity in individuals, building accuracy and logic to reduce risk, covering feasibility and viability (adding value to stakeholders), how to bring the intangible to life and to help others make sense of complexity. Taking the research and insights into an implementable roadmap? How and when to move from Design Thinking to a Lean-start-up or Agile implementation.

RECONNECT SESSION:

Workshop Design and review of the participant’s workshop examples: The content of the Online Coaching Reconnect Session (1 hours) will be adjusted based on the participants’ needs.
