About this course
Facilitation is an indispensable part of running successful Design Thinking workshops and projects. It brings people from diverse backgrounds together to collaborate, explore ideas and address specific challenges. Effective facilitation creates an environment where participants feel empowered to contribute, collaborate and develop their creative confidence.
In the 2-Day Competency-Based DesignThinkers™ Certified Design Thinking Facilitator Course, we focus on developing your capabilities to confidently facilitate teams through the Design Thinking process. We have identified six essential competencies that will prepare you to guide teams effectively and professionally:
- Foster a creative and multi-disciplinary team culture
- Lead the DT process
- Develop the end-user centric mindset
- Collaborate with stakeholders
- Create and implement a pilot structure
- Focus on value propositions
We strongly believe in ‘learning-by-doing’. This course is highly practical, energetic and hands-on, allowing you to experience Design Thinking not simply as a methodology, but as a way of working with people and solving challenges.
You will work in small teams on a real challenge while learning to apply the Design Thinking approach, tools and facilitation techniques. Together with our recognised facilitators, you will explore and find answers to the following:
- How to successfully apply Design Thinking in a complex business environment?
- How can you build empathy in an organization, transform user feedback and insights into opportunities?
- What is the value of Design Thinking?
- How can it be implemented to competitive advantage?
What you will achieve
Upon completing the courses, participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance and will have acquired the knowledge, practical skills and facilitation techniques to professionally guide a team through the Design Thinking process.
For participants who wish to take the next step, there is an optional pathway to become a Certified Design Thinking Facilitator. This certification is separate from completing the courses and requires an additional assessment.
Participants pursuing certification will undertake a Design Thinking project where they can demonstrate the application of their learning and facilitation capabilities. They will then present their project, approach and outcomes to a team of assessors for evaluation.
Successful completion of this assessment will lead to the award of Certified Design Thinking Facilitator status.
The certification assessment is entirely optional. Participants who choose not to undertake the assessment still complete the courses with the knowledge and practical skills required to facilitate Design Thinking teams professionally, together with their Certificate of Attendance.

Meet your instructors
Your learning experience will be guided by experienced Design Thinking facilitators who bring together extensive experience in facilitation and working with people and teams.
Throughout the course, your instructors will go beyond simply teaching Design Thinking tools and methods. They will share practical experiences, demonstrate facilitation techniques, observe how you work with your team and provide guidance and feedback to help you develop your own confidence and style as a facilitator.
The emphasis is on learning by doing. Your instructors will create a supportive and highly interactive environment where you can practise facilitating, experiment with different approaches, reflect on your performance and learn from both successes and challenges.
Most importantly, they will help you understand that effective Design Thinking facilitation is not about following a set of tools or templates. It is about knowing how to guide people, manage team dynamics, ask the right questions, encourage different perspectives and move a team confidently through the Design Thinking process.

DesignThinkers™ Certified Design Thinking Facilitator
After successful completion of the 2-Day Design Thinking Facilitation course, participants are required to complete an assignment and present it to the global panel of assessors. If you are deemed competent, you will be awarded a the “DesignThinkers™ Certified Design Thinking Facilitator” Certificate and you can celebrate your achievement of becoming a true Design Thinking facilitator. All tools and materials will be available after the course for personal use.
