We designed a ‘Learning by Doing’ experience in a 2-day classroom setting for you to learn how to facilitate Design Thinking workshop sessions for mixed audiences. The activities for the 2-day classroom training are a balanced mix of theory and practice:

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Facilitation is key in running successful Design Thinking workshop sessions, which are meant to bring together people from diverse backgrounds to work on specific challenges. Creating a space and environment where people feel confident and can be creative is the key responsibility for the facilitator.

We strongly believe in ‘Learning by Doing’, so the Facilitation Training will be a high energy and hands-on event. You’ll be challenged to work in small teams working on all the different aspects of facilitating workshops. You will be using Design Thinking tools (like Stakeholder Mapping, Customer Journey Mapping, Prototyping), the focus, however, will be on your personal facilitation skills of designing and facilitating Design Thinking workshops.

The objective of the 2-day classroom training is to understand your facilitation skills’ strengths and improve your personal opportunity areas through a combination of facilitation experiences and coaching. The activities for the 2-day classroom training are a balanced mix of theory and practice.

TOPICS FACILITATION TRAINING

Workshop & Agenda Design for different types of workshops; Problem Statements & Reframing; Facilitation Theory, Tips and Hands-on Experience with a Real Case Study; Core Design Thinking workshop flow as starting point for Future Workshop Design.

RECONNECT SESSION

Workshop Design and review of the participant’s workshop examples, Advanced Facilitation Techniques and Turning Workshop Results into Action Steps.

WHO WILL FACILITATE?

Darryl McClay, Managing Partner of DesignThinkers Academy New Zealand & Australia. Darryl is a highly experienced entrepreneur and business leader with over 20 years of experience running his own market-leading creative agency. Darryl combines his design thinking expertise with his leadership experience to help people and organizations become more human-centered and focused on creating meaningful experiences.

Zoe Chamel is a highly experienced Human-Centered Design and Customer Experience practitioner who has been delivering innovative & customer-centric programs for some of New Zealand’s most innovative and successful companies including Z Energy, Air New Zealand, Vodaphone and Vero. Zoe is a sought after trainer and speaker and highly respected within the Design Thinking community.
