2-Day Design Thinking Facilitation Course April 2019

(English spoken) Learn how to facilitate workshops following the Design Thinking principles for mixed audiences. In this 2-day high energy course for Design Thinking practitioners you learn how to guide people in a Design Thinking session.

This ‘Learning by Doing’ experience in a 2-day workshop setting is followed by a Personal Coaching session. This way you learn best how to facilitate Design Thinking workshop sessions in your own workplace.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Facilitation is key in running successful Design Thinking workshop sessions, which are meant to bring together people from diverse backgrounds to work on specific challenges. Creating a space and an environment where people feel confident and can be creative is the key responsibility of the facilitator.

We strongly believe in ‘Learning by Doing’, so the Facilitation Training will be a high energy and hands-on event. You’ll be challenged to work in small teams working on all the different aspects of facilitating workshops. You will be using Design Thinking tools (like Stakeholder Mapping, Customer Journey Mapping, Prototyping), the focus however will be on your personal facilitation skills of designing and facilitating Design Thinking workshops and not on the tools. To be honest, you know these tools already, don’t you?

PERSONAL COACHING SESSION

To make sure that what you learn during the training, it is crucial to start putting it into practice on a short notice. So, before entering the training you are asked to think about your first opportunity to facilitate in your job. During the training you will work on preparing this facilitation opportunity with the help of the trainers and your peers in the training.
The Coaching Session offers participants’ one-on-one time with one of the trainers to discuss any challenges regarding their on the job Facilitation Opportunity.

GLOBAL OUTLINE

The activities during the 2-day course are a balanced mix of theory and practice. Below you find a global outline of the topics that will be addressed during the course:

DAY 01

Facility Skill Assessment, Workshop Types, Core Design Thinking Workshop Flow, Problem Statement Definition & Art of Facilitation, Agenda & Workshop Design;

DAY 02

Energy Management, Facilitation Team Management, Facilitating an actual Design Thinking workshop, Feedback on Facilitation Skills.

Please be aware that this is not a Design Thinking training but a Design Thinking Facilitation training.
